The SBH Guesthouse, since 1997.

The Guesthouse

The Sanyu Guesthouse is just a stone’s throw away from the main Babies’ Home building and has been operating since 1997. The Sanyu Guesthouse is a safe, clean and hospitable environment that welcomes both volunteers and non-volunteering guests from all over the world. The Guesthouse is run by Guesthouse Manager Joel. Joel is responsible for cooking and cleaning for the guests and is often the first person that guests meet upon arrival.

The Sanyu Guesthouse can host up to 14 people at one time, with a mix of twin and single rooms. The Guesthouse is comprised of 3 smaller buildings, each with its own bathroom including a shower/bath and toilet. There are two kitchens, one for Joel and one for volunteers, and two comfortable sitting rooms with a sofa and dining table in each. Each guest is provided with a soft blanket, bed sheets, pillows, a towel and a mosquito net.

Joel cooks a variety of dishes including both local and western food and can cater to different dietary requirements. He cooks dinner every night apart from Sunday. There is a range of breakfast items available for you to make your own breakfast including bread, eggs, tea, coffee, milk and different spreads.

At the back of the guesthouses, you will find washing lines to hang your laundry and also Joel’s garden! Joel grows a variety of fruits and vegetables and you can often find him working there in his spare time. He grows peppers, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, eggplants and even strawberries – if you are lucky you might even get a taste of his fresh produce in his cooking!

The Sanyu Guesthouse is one of the main sources of income for Sanyu Babies’ Home. So not only will you enjoy a pleasant stay, but you will also be supporting us in providing essential care for our wonderful children.

Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or would like to book a stay – we look forward to meeting you!
